Closets and Tuppence

Do you remember the song in Mary Poppins called, "Feed the Birds"?

Early each day to the steps of Saint Paul's
The little old bird woman comes.
In her own special way to the people she calls,
"Come, buy my bags full of crumbs.

Come feed the little birds, show them you care
And you'll be glad if you do.
Their young ones are hungry,
Their nests are so bare;
All it takes is tuppence from you."

Feed the birds, tuppence a bag,
Tuppence, tuppence, tuppence a bag.
"Feed the birds," that's what she cries,
While overhead, her birds fill the skies.

All around the cathedral the saints and apostles
Look down as she sells her wares.
Although you can't see it, you know they are smiling
Each time someone shows that he cares.

Though her words are simple and few,
Listen, listen, she's calling to you:
"Feed the birds, tuppence a bag,
Tuppence, tuppence, tuppence a bag."

I never realized how much enjoyment I would get out of watching birds.  Until this year I never even owned a bird feeder.  Aside from a humingbird feeder I hang up in the Spring.

This is as close as Mr. Blue Jay would come to the feeder.  You cannot know how badly I wanted a close up.  At one point, this blue jay and a cardinal were within three feet of each other.  I guess they are camera shy.  I will not give up though.  If it means that I have to sit by that window for hours.  I will capture the shot I want.

So, anywhoo, the closet is very near to being finished.  Our carpenter is coming back Tuesday to switch the lights out and install the toe kicks.  THEN WE ARE DONE!!!!  I love organization folks.  I love it more than ball park nachos.

Beginning of construction looked a little like this.

Now, you get to see how my room looked during construction.  It was a TOTAL disaster.  Imagine me digging through this giant heap to find my clothes.  Sadly..... this was only MY side of the bed.  I guiltily admit that I also had two large piles on the great room couch.  Then at least four large rubbermaid tubs full.  Trust me, I did a much needed clothing purge.
I spy with my little eye............ CONGO!  (look closely)
I'm a neat freak by nature, so this type of upheavel sets me over the edge.
To top it off, Rick and I couldn't sleep in our bed.  The first night we tried the queen spare bed, nuh-uh!  The second night, I opted for the couch.

The Monkeys vs. Play-doh

Because my trusty Mac has been a little fickle lately, and because I'm (as usual these days) short on time, will make this post heavy on pictures and short on words.

I suppose that lightning fast internet speeds is something I gave up when we built on rockyridgefarm.  I'm crossing my fingers and wishing on shooting stars that someone gives us another alternative.  So far, there are no takers.

Enough whining, right?

I have been taking photos of the closet progress.  You might be surprised to know that I plan on showing before photos?  You might be surprised to know that I did a "little" tidying before the photos?  They will be very near to accurate.  For instance, you will see lots of clutter.  But you may not see the bra that I hung up to dry.  Just saying.

I considered showing you daily progress but later decided that I wasn't courageous enough.  I cannot allow the before images to linger in your mind all week.  So, I shall do an entire post (beginning to end) when it's completed.  Which, again crossing my fingers and wishing on shooting stars, will be sometime tomorrow....... or Friday.  In the event that Friday is the day of completion, I won't be showing you photos until Tuesday.  (because this momma is taking a GIRL ONLY three day weekend!!!!!!  Eeeeeek!)

Until then, I wanted to leave you with a few photos I took yesterday afternoon.  It was Martin Luther King's birthday and the monkeys didn't have school.  Which turned out to be a good thing since my red-headed monkey came down with a fever.  He layed on the couch most of the day.  Coughing and contaminating my throw pillows, my throw blankets, and my remote controls (which I never hold anyway).
Ian, Gracie and I had a little play-doh time.  I thoroughly enjoyed myself.  We made creatures and pretend food.  Any day is good when there is play-doh involved.

In case you were wondering........ it's pizza!  Play-doh pizza, yum!
a doughnut

I may (or may not) have created this little goblin fairy myself.  He said "NO" when I asked him to clean the house.  You wanna know what I did to that goblin fairy.  Well...... you probably don't!

Manic Monday

This is gonna be a blazing quick post.

I have a man coming to the house to install our new custom closet.
Which means that everything that once belonged in our closet, is now on my bed (and my floors, and my dresser and........).  Jeeshhhh!
I also have my children + two extras - my hubby = stressssssssed out!

#1.
I wanted to share my new verse for the Siesta scripture memory team.  I am supposed to get a new one every 1st and 15th of the month.

"I prayed to the LORD, and he answered me.  He freed me from all my fears."
Psalm 34:4

#2.
I watched more basketball games this week than I care to admit.  Sadly, my teams didn't win one.  So, I'm a little bummed about that.

#3.
I am pumped up about getting the heck out of dodge this weekend.  Three nights of girl time!!!  Believe me, this is highly needed!!  Momma comes back nicer and more patient after little get-aways.

#4.
I have been on an organizing frenzy!  Nearly every closet in this house has been de-cluttered.

#5.
I made a delish recipe last night that I seriously need to share with you.
I made it up therefore, I get to name it.
I shall call it........... (drumroll please)

Crunchy Lemon Chicken
